The final event of the ARC is the most anticipated. Why? Well, it's the evening the results are announced (as well as a huge farewell party).  And, with this year's ARC characterised by days of light airs, the pre-results chatter suggested there were going to be a few surprises.  ARC 2008 brought out the best in the crews' ability to make tactical sailing, weather, and routing decisions.  So, who were the winners?

Well before the start of the ARC, Glen Ross, crew on Stephen Brown’s Oyster 56 Curious, decided he and the rest of the crew should have a very special souvenir to commemorate their ARC2008 Atlantic crossing. But with the absence of souvenir shops to pull up at en route, and little other than water and fish to collect close to the surface a really creative solution would be needed. Ever inventive, Glen an idea;

Synopsis: High west of Azores. Will have mainly E flow, with the strongest north of 15N. The wind will tend to be more ENE and NE south of 15N and west of 55W. The high will be near 38N/37-38W on Sat while cold front over the western Atlantic extends down to eastern Cuba. Front comes east and will weaken the trades.
